TORACO Hanafuda

Let's play Koi-Koi, a classic hanafuda (flower card) game! Match cards of the same month to capture them, and score by making sets called yaku. Best total over 3 rounds wins!
How to play
- Hanafuda has 48 cards: 4 cards for each of the 12 months. You capture cards by matching two of the same month.
- On your turn, first play one card from your hand. If a card of the same month is on the table, you capture both! If not, your card stays on the table.
- Then flip the top card of the deck. It captures a same-month card on the table in the same way.
- When your captured cards form a yaku (a scoring set), choose Koi-Koi (keep going) or Stop (end the round and take your points).
- After you call Koi-Koi, watch out: if your opponent makes a yaku and stops first, their points are doubled. If you add to your yaku, you get to choose again.
- After 3 rounds, whoever has the higher total wins!
The number at the top left of a card is its month (1–12). The mark at the top right is its type: ★ Bright, ◆ Animal, ▮ Ribbon, and no mark for Plain.

Detailed rules
- If two cards of the month are on the table, you choose which one to take. If three are there, you take all four!
- If your yaku total is 7 pts or more, the round's points are doubled.
- Only your highest Bright yaku counts (Five, Four, Rainy Four or Three Brights). All other yaku add up.
- The sake cup (chrysanthemum) counts as both an Animal and a Plain card.
- If you make a yaku with no cards left in your hand, you can't call Koi-Koi; the round ends right there.
- If the hands run out and nobody has stopped, the round has no winner and nobody scores.
- You can call Koi-Koi again every time your yaku total goes up. However many times you call, the other side's points are only doubled once.
- The winner of a round plays first (as dealer) in the next one. You're the dealer in round 1.
- If the totals are equal after 3 rounds, the match is a draw.
- I'll deal again if a hand has four cards of one month or four pairs, or if the table has four cards of one month.
- If you leave in the middle of a match, you can pick it up later on this device.
